There was a time where keyboards were not all about flex and foams, and in that time (arguably still the case now for some people), top mount was the king of mounting. It secures the plate/ PCB assembly firmly around the perimeter and provide a rather even typing feel when paired with a more rigid plate. This is one of those simplistic top mount board that is well designed and executed - KFE CE. The classic koala curved sides, named after the Korean board “Koala” designed by Korellas, along with the dual brass weights at the bottom of the keyboard, are the key design features of this board. KFE CE also has a very uncommonly low typing angle of 4 degrees, which definitely provides a more pleasant typing experience. Another star of the show here is the PBTfans Spark keycaps. PBTfans is a new manufacturer that creates very high quality doubleshot PBT keycaps not commonly seen before. The doubleshot legends are crisp, and paired with the playful accents, this set designed by biip is surely one of my favorite. And there’s the Biso Kei Cap on F13 to top it off =)
